Living The Christian Life

2 Timothy 1:6

"For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God..."

Jn 10:10b - The life God promised us and called us to live through Christ and in Christ is a full and abundant life.

Consider the what, why and how of the Christian life:

1. What the Christian life is
• 2 Tim 1:5 - a sincere (real) faith.
• Rom 1:17 - living by faith.
• Eph 2:8-9 - faith is a gift of God.
2. Why live the Christian life
• Jn 10:10b - it is the most fulfilling life.
• Mt 11:28-30 - being (yoked) with Jesus, the only truly gentle and humble One.
  
• 2 Tim 1:7 - it is a life of love, power and self-discipline, a life without fear.
3. How to live the Christian life
• 2 Tim 1:6 - "fan it" requires your active involvement and participation
• Phil 2:12b-13 - work it out.
• 2 Tim 4:7 - "fight."
• 2 Tim 1:8 - join with others.
• 2 Tim 1:8 - "by the power of God."
• Rom 1:16 - the gospel is the power of God.
• Acts 20:24 - the power of the gospel is the grace of God.
• 2 Tim 2:1 - strength comes from grace.
• 2 Tim 1:9 - this grace is from "before the beginning of time."
• 1 Cor 2:13 - "This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words."
• Ps 34:8 - "Taste and see that the Lord is good."

Practical Considerations

1. Accountability (Heb 3:13).
2. Bless others (Lev 19:18; Mt 22:39; Mk 12:31).
3. Constancy (Phil 2:12b).
4. Do it (Jn 21:19, 22).
